Terms of Service

Last updated: October 7, 2026

These terms cover the invitation-only Coursory private preview. Public commercial access and paid plans are not yet offered.

By creating an account or using Coursory (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you confirm you are authorized to bind that organization to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Upload, store, or transmit malware, viruses, ransomware, or any code designed to disrupt or compromise our systems or other users.
  • Generate, host, or distribute abusive, harassing, defamatory, sexually explicit, or hateful content, or content that infringes the rights of any third party.
  • Scrape, harvest, or systematically extract data from the Service except through APIs and rate limits we publish.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the source code of the Service except where permitted by applicable law.
  • Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service without written authorization (to report a vulnerability, see how to report a vulnerability).
  • Use the Service to build a competing product that replicates the substantial functionality of Coursory.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, with or without notice depending on the severity of the violation.

2. Intellectual property

Your content is yours. You retain all rights, title, and interest in and to the course content, source files, prompts, and other materials you upload or create through the Service ("User Content"). You grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, process, transmit, and display your User Content solely as necessary to provide the Service to you and to forward it to the AI subprocessors you choose to invoke.

Our platform is ours. The Service's code, UI, design, branding, prompt engineering recipes, and underlying infrastructure are owned by us or our licensors. Nothing in these terms grants you any right or license to our intellectual property except the right to use the Service as described.

Feedback. If you submit suggestions or feedback, you grant us a perpetual, royalty-free license to use it without compensation.

3. Account responsibility

  • You are responsible for keeping your password and any API keys you create confidential.
  • Do not share your account credentials with other people. Each user needs their own account.
  • Notify us immediately if you suspect your account has been compromised.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account, except where caused by our breach of these terms.

4. AI-generated content

Coursory uses third-party AI providers to generate text, images, narration, and code. AI outputs are probabilistic and may contain inaccuracies, fabricated facts, biased framing, or content that unintentionally resembles copyrighted material. You acknowledge that:

  • You will review AI-generated content for accuracy, appropriateness, and compliance before publishing or distributing it.
  • We make no warranty that AI-generated content is correct, complete, original, non-infringing, or fit for any particular purpose.
  • Your use of AI features is also subject to the terms of the underlying AI provider (see our subprocessor list).
  • You will not use AI features to generate content that violates applicable laws or these terms.

5. Termination

By you: you may delete your account at any time from your profile settings. What happens to your data after deletion is described under data retention in our Privacy Policy.

By us: we may suspend or terminate your access for material breach of these terms, non-payment (where applicable), or to comply with law. We will give you reasonable notice where practical, except in cases of suspected abuse or security risk.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination (intellectual property, liability, governing law) will continue to apply.

6. Liability limitation

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) USD $100.

WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY.

7. Governing law

This private preview is not a public commercial offering. These preview terms do not set a governing law or court jurisdiction; they will be stated in the terms that apply when Coursory becomes generally available. Until then, access is by invitation and may be withdrawn at any time. Questions about these preview terms can be sent to support@coursory.ai.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will post the revised version with an updated "Last updated" date, and for material changes we will give you reasonable advance notice (e.g. by email or in-product banner). Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
